Co-Habitation & Co-Design
As a student assistant at the Institute of Architecture and Landscape, I gained hands-on experience in both graphical tutorials and facilitating essential neighborhood negotiations among students. My role extended beyond technical support to fostering communication and collaboration in large-scale, collective design projects.
Each student group was assigned a designated site with specific thematic focal points and individual design concepts. However, the collective approach allowed these independent projects to merge into a cohesive, integrated master plan. This was exemplified in Dasein Co-Design Vol. 1, where 15 master’s students and 12 bachelor’s student groups collaborated on a unified plan, each contributing five design iterations.
Subsequent projects evolved into more vertically structured concepts, such as Vol. 2, which explored the More-Than-Human Tower in Singapore, and the Studio Thick Walls – Porous Frontier in Bolzano, where complex 3D structures and interconnected thick walls redefined spatial relationships.
Beyond guiding students in negotiation and adaptive design thinking, I coordinated weekly submissions, managed deadlines, and ensured seamless integration of individual projects into the collective framework. My role required balancing organizational oversight with creative mediation, reinforcing the importance of collaborative urban and architectural strategies.
