Wildlive Pavilion
- An invitation into our more-than-human-world
Terra Viva Competition 2023
Competition with Anna Edelhofer & Marlies Lipp
Our planet hosts approximately 8.4 million species, yet humans alone consume a disproportionate share of resources. In collaboration with two colleagues, we created a proposal for the Natural Reserve Sebino that prioritizes non-human species and enriches biodiversity.
Called “World Pavilions,” the project is built around three core structures—Air, Earth, and Water—each representing a main habitat. The Air Pavilion supports bird habitats and observation, the Earth Pavilion accommodates small mammals and insects, and the partially submerged Water Pavilion provides refuge for fish and amphibians. Conceptually stacked, these structures symbolize our globe, reflecting how more-than-human coexistence can address broader environmental challenges.
Instead of traditional, human-focused installations, we position people as silent observers. This approach reduces human impact, enhances habitats, and encourages a symbiotic relationship between humans and wildlife. While the pavilions’ forms are symbolic, our primary goal is to expand animal-aided habitats, promoting a balanced coexistence that goes beyond mere recreation.
